Baccarat Glossary, Terms & Slang
- Baccarat a Deux Tableau - Another version of the classic game of baccarat. It is played with three dealt hands and no rules for the bank. Can also be called Baccarat en Banque.
Banco - The old time European name for the bank.
Bank - The hand in the game of Baccarat which is drawn last and is usually the dealer. The hand they deal is also known as the “bank hand”.
Broadway - The aluminum part of the table where the used cards are placed.
Callman - A baccarat dealer.
Comb - Another word for lace or to place cards in a stack on at a time.
Comission - The percentage charge a casino makes on all of the winnings in baccarat.
Coup - A term the French use for a round of play.
Down card - A card that is facing down, everyone at the table is unable to see the face of the card.
La Grande - What the French call a natural 9.
La Petite - What the French call a natural 8.
Mini baccarat - This is a downgraded version of baccarat. Similar rules apply, but the game is missing a couple casino employees. This version of the game is cheaper for the casinos because it requires less paid employees. Mini baccarat moves quicker and some think it is more exciting than regular baccarat.
Natural - A prized hand in the game of baccarat, is almost always considered an automatic win.
Punto - Another term for the players.
Rule card - A printed set of baccarat rules. Many times they are available at the baccarat tables.
Shills - Good looking women who are employed to sit at baccarat tables to entice gamblers. They start the game and teach players about the game.
Stand off - A tie between players.
Vigorish- The casinos commission of baccarat. It is usually around 5%.
